Fabrication and nanostructural characterization of TiO2 nanorods

Abstract:

TiO2 nanorods are synthesized by a thermal corrosion. In present work, synthesis of TiO2 nanorods in anatase, rutile and Ti8O15 phases, by using the sol-gel method and alkaline corrosion are reported. The morphologies and crystal structures of TiO2 nanorods are characterized by use of field emission scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy and X-ray diffractometer techniques. The obtained results illustrate an aggregated structure at high calcined temperatures with the production of spherical particles. The effects of chemical compositions and calcined temperatures on surface topography and crystallization of phases are studied. Moreover, activation energy of nanoparticles formation is calculated during thermal treatment.

Sonochemical fabrication and characterization of stibnite nanorods.

Regular stibnite (Sb(2)S(3)) nanorods with diameters of 20-40 nm and lengths of 220-350 nm have been successfully synthesized by a sonochemical method under ambient air from an ethanolic solution containing antimony trichloride and thioacetamide. The as-prepared Sb(2)S(3) nanorods are characterized by employing techniques including X-ray powder diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, sca...

Controlled fabrication of Sn/TiO2 nanorods for photoelectrochemical water splitting

In this work, we investigate the controlled fabrication of Sn-doped TiO2 nanorods (Sn/TiO2 NRs) for photoelectrochemical water splitting. Sn is incorporated into the rutile TiO2 nanorods with Sn/Ti molar ratios ranging from 0% to 3% by a simple solvothermal synthesis method. The obtained Sn/TiO2 NRs are single crystalline with a rutile structure. The concentration of Sn in the final nanorods ca...

Fabrication and Characterization of Nanostructured TiO2 and Turmeric Spent Incorporated Polystyrene Hybrid Nano Composites

A series of polystyrene hybrid nanocomposites have been fabricated with varying amounts of TiO2 viz., 0, 0.5 and 1 % w/w along with 3% TS by in-situ polymerization method. The influence of surface modified TiO2 nanoparticles on the thermal properties of PS matrix was examined using thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry. Thermal characteristics of the polystyrene/TS/TiO2 hybrid ...

Planar Au/TiO2 model catalysts: fabrication, characterization and catalytic activity.

Different types of planar Au/TiO(2) model catalysts are produced on TiO(2)(110) single-crystal substrates and thin TiO(2) films on Ru(0001) by physical vapor deposition of gold under ultrahigh-vacuum (UHV) conditions or by micelle-based chemical routes. Both the Au nanoparticles and the support are characterized by surface-science-based methods (such as atomic force microscopy and X-ray photoel...
